How to Prepare for Your Summer Music Festival

Apr 26 2019

Summer is coming, and that means outdoor music festivals, fairs, and fun are coming our way!

If you’re headed to Rifflandia, Vancouver Island MusicFestShambhala Music Festival, or any other local festival this summer, you’ll want to prepare and gear up for an exciting time – and we’re here to help with that!

Festival Gear and Wear

Get festival-ready with beauty and fashion trends. Opt for a trendy boho look with a light colour top and denim bottoms and experiment layering with different textures and colours. Wear a pair of comfortable and stylish leather booties, sandals, or canvas shoes. Accessorize your outfit with a large cute sunhat and some wrist bangles!

On the other side of the spectrum, you can get creative with electrifying colours and patterns. Try out shimmery sequin tops, neon colour skirts, polka-dot dresses, and stylish one-pieces. Complete either look with a pair of cute designer shades from FYidoctors. Check the weather forecast before the festival in case you need to bring additional equipment like an umbrella from Dollar Tree.

Festival Beauty

Enhance your beauty look with eyeshadows in bright pink and yellow shades. Create a dramatic cat eye look with liquid liner and voluminous false lashes. Add some shimmer to your look with rhinestones, gems, or glitter. If you prefer to keep makeup to a minimal, the fresh-face look is also easy to attain. Opt for light neutral shades of eyeshadows like browns, nudes, and beige, and some light shimmer to highlight your cheekbones.

Find a variety of beauty products like eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush at Forbes Pharmacy. Make sure you have a good base set like moisturizer and sunscreen (which you can find at Forbes Pharmacy or Quality Foods) as well as layer of primer and makeup-setting spray before heading out to ensure your look lasts the full day.

Get a good hairstyle going for your mane event! Get a natural beach wave look with sea salt spray and a curling iron. Braids are also a fun and easy look to achieve; you can do a French twist, French braid, or simply wrap the braid around the front of your head as if you are wearing a crown. Add a floral headband to make your hairstyle really pop. If you’re feeling more on the wild side, go for a textured-afro look and add some colour to your hair with temporary colour hairspray. Singing, dancing, and jumping around all day can make a person feel grimy, so prepare yourself with dry shampoo, oil-blotting papers, deodorant, and baby wipes. Most importantly, make sure you also pick up a bottle of sunscreen and sunhat to protect your skin from the rays!

Stock up for the Road and Day

Festivals last an entire day so make sure you stay energized and hydrated with healthy snacks, fruit, and water while staying within budget. Stop by Quality Foods, Cobs Bread, Starbucks, or Tim Hortons to pick up nutritious snacks like fruit, granola bars, baked chips, nut mixes, pastries, and more. Make sure to also pick up a reusable drink bottle from Dollar Tree to stay hydrated throughout the day!

Bask in Your Summer Experience

Finally, make sure you soak up as much fun as you will with the sun. After all, festivals and fairs are great ways to meet new people, share new experiences, and have an unforgettable time.
